  Last Memorial Experiences

  i'll share mine first.... i had never missed a memorial for at least a quarter of a century of my life.

  i was kind of raised to believe that missing the memorial was a sin in itself.. by 2013 memorial season, i was missing most of my meetings (even though i was still technically part of my foreign language congregation), and i had just come off the pioneer list.

  i still made plans to attend the memorial (god forbid if i missed that lol).. i knew that typically our memorials were around 9 pm, since we usually got last priority (being a foreign language hall and all).

  Interestingly enough I share that part of the story. I am 52, but when I was about ten or eleven I began to question that the loving God of the bible was going to throw me in hell for not attending the Catholic mass (one of five capital sins, I think). That was the beginning of my conversion to atheism which was well settled by the time I was 15. The second phase came about six years ago when I researched the JW religion, the bible and pretty much everything about Christianity. Now you can call me a[nti]theist, even the antichrist. I would take that as a compliment.

  Interesting Thing My Little Girl Said Today

  my 3yo daughter lives with me 4 days and with her mum 3 days.

  i have her tues, wed, fri evening and saturday all day.

  which means my ex takes her to sunday and thursday meetings but she doesn't go door knocking on saturday because she's with me.. i dont mind - at the moment - because in a way i want her to know the jw jargon so we can talk about it without having to explain what it is, and i want her to compare the bullshit to the real world.

  Don't lower the guard. My two children at three were sleeping through the meetings...well ... they tried, but mom wouldn't allow it. But at some point the message began to get in their heads. Fast forward to many years later and my daughter gets baptized when she is 16. I always hope that now, at 21, she is mentally out, but it may just be wishful thinking.

  My son is a different story. I pulled him out of the theocratic school, week meeting and preaching against his will when he was 11. I am quite confident he will never be a JW even though he has a soft spot for all the members.

  No one may know this Cuban C.O. (Spanish circuits), but I have to give credit where credit is due. Samuel Izquierdo was a great speaker.

  I remember my stumbling him about the quotation marks around "Samuel" in 1 Samuel 28 in the JW bible. He offered to give me an answer the following day. He did. Sounded almost like an admission that the quotation marks were wrong.

  i think i was abused as a child by someone in a hall in central california a long time ago.

  i have been seeing on here for a while, two names keep popping up to get help.

  You think?? I am no psychologist, but that piece information raises suspicion. To be sure about your "thinking", talk to shrink too.

  Anyways, I like Zalkin better. He has far more resources than Simmons

  2017 Sunday RC Final Talk & Comments About 1975

  many of us here have commented on the deceitful friday afternoon video shown at the 2017 rc that discussed 1975.. the video attempted to shift the blame onto congregation members for the fiasco saying, "some were looking to a certain date as signifying the end of this old system of things.".

  this same video mentions how, “a few even went so far as selling their homes and quitting their jobs.”.

  we all know that the wt leadership created this teaching and endorsed it right up to its abject failure.. now below is the concluding talk given on sunday at the rc.

  according to victor yarofeyev, who publishes a blog for a radio station in moscow, echo of moscow, the total value of the jw properties in russia is 1.9 billion rubles.

  which converts to $31,956,955 us.

  almost 32 million dollars.. yarofeyev speculates that, if the supreme court refuses the org's appeal on july 17, some of the jw's properties may prove difficult for the russian government to seize.

  We are having another "Rutherford vs Germany's government" case. Governing Body trying to save their most important --their only-- assets...no not the brothers and sisters

  The right thing to do is for the Russian government is to seize all the WT assets, auctioned them, and distribute all the revenues among all the publishers. They are the real owners of those properties. But we are dealing with tyrants versus tyrants. Justice won't happen here

  No, I wouldn't. Just treat them the way they deserve to be treated. Make them pay taxes for income and property. I would also force them to pay salaries and benefits to the "volunteers". They offer nothing to society. They should be taxed as a business.

  Foreign Language Field and Fading

  hey guys.

  first of all, i want to thank everyone for being so welcoming and helpful on this forum.... i was thinking about my last 3 years as a jw when i was attending the portuguese congregation and learning that language to bring in more converts.

  interestingly, we were told not to attend meetings in our native language in order to immerse ourselves in the new language.

  Hey, that gives me hope that my nephew will quit the cult soon. He has to travel six hours to go to his Portuguese conventions (L.A. to San Francisco). That's a crazy waste of time, money and energy. A life wasted
